About Domains
A domain name is the unique address people type into their browser to visit a website. Domain names make it easy for visitors to find your site. Instead of having to type an IP address, which would be difficult to remember, they can type your memorable domain name instead.
A domain name is made up of:
A name: This can be any combination of letters and numbers, but it's usually the name of your company or brand. For example, 'Just Jolly' in Just-Jolly.com.
A domain extension: The top-level domain ending that appears at the end of your domain name. For example, '.com' in just-jolly.com.
A domain name makes up just one part of a site's full web address (URL). For example, most web addresses start with 'www.'
